Meet Kassi Koufaki, Arcade's new Head of Production

Kassi Koufaki in the Arcade offices.

Kassi Koufaki is Arcade's new Head of Production. She holds a degree in Visual & Special Effects from the National Film School and an MA in Applied Imagination from Central St Martins. Before joining us she was Creative Producer & Head of Innovation for visual storytelling studio Nucco Brain and as a VR Producer & Head of Post Production for the award winning interactive production studio UNIT9.

We wanted to get to know her a bit better, and discovered her love for teamwork, innovation, “ridiculous audio tours”, jazz drumming and, er, power metal.

Welcome to Arcade Kassi!

Thanks, I’m really excited to be here.

We tackled some of the most insane challenges

What are you most proud of in your working life so far?

It has to be the people .When working with immersive tech there are so many 'unknown' factors in the mix and risks can be high, but I've been very lucky to have worked alongside fantastic artists and I am super proud of the evolution of all of my teams - how gracefully we tackled some of the most insane challenges together, how we innovated and took in new talent.I have certainly lived through a few 'make or break' moments in my Production life and I can say that good team spirit makes all the difference!

What are you most looking forward to with Arcade?

I am looking forward to joining a unique group of individuals that are as excited as I am about the future of immersive tech. I am hoping to innovate, learn more about what AR has to offer and to create experiences that people will remember for the years to come.

I feel like a modern day explorer

What excites you most about immersive technology?

The sense of discovery. I feel like a modern day explorer working with new technologies at their early stages, figuring them out, understanding their capacity and using them to tell stories in incredible new ways.

What’s your favourite thing to do in your spare time?

I am all about interesting stories, a good cup of coffee and curious facts. I love watching films, TV shows, reading books, magazines or getting to know new people. Every month I make a point of picking up a magazine I've never read before and I am one of those annoying people that will ask for that ridiculous audio tour device in museums.

What music do you listen to?

That's a tough one....It really depends on my mood, place or time of day? For example... Britpop is great to get you started in the morning, but when you have a critical delivery after a long day nothing works like power metal!

Anything else we should know / you’re prepared to admit to?!

Recently I started learning how to play the drums. I am absolutely terrible at it but I live for the day I could emulate Miles Teller in 'Whiplash'.

Thanks for your time Miles Kassi, welcome again and good luck!

Thanks! I can't wait to get started.
